There is some very questionable CGI in this story to be sure… but then again, there are moments when the animation isn’t entirely awful… you’ll get a mixed bag when it comes to visuals. Honestly, I have to wonder what Production I.G and Sanzigen could have been thinking. There are moments where the animation dips fairly low. That said, I don’t personally like this movie. If you do that, you probably won’t hate it as much as I do. My best advice is set your expectations low going into it. Given just who was involved with this movie (this has to do with the Ghost in the shell rant), I expected more than what I got. I wasn’t able to do that because I went into the movie entirely blind, and to me it was a waste of my time. You just have to understand what you’re getting into. That said the movie is entertaining to a point. As far as clean narratives are concerned, that’s a problem. This trailer briefly shows flashbacks of the conception of the 00-Cyborgs, among which included a brain a jar connected by wires, a reference to the Underground Empire of Yomi arc with the final battle against Black Ghost.There’s no subtlety here, it’s all much too overbearing.This is a reference to the finale of the Mythos Arc as depicted in the 2001 Anime.
Lucy speaks of an island in the Aegean Sea that 002 was sighted flying over as it sank during an eruption in 1966.The Photos of 009 in 1965 and in 1966 reference the Assassins and Vietnam arcs of the manga as Joe battles 0013 and the black tank the Cyborgmen used in Vietnam.Lucy shows photo images of the 00 Cyborgs during their past adventures and she references specific dates that correlate to the real world printing of those adventures:.The movie was divided into 12 episodes for distribution. Netflix announced it had acquired the rights to stream all three films on their site worldwide on February 10th 2017. However, Lucy's visit and the return of the Blessed draw Joe and the others once more unto the breach of a new battle. The cyborgs themselves have been freed from their duty of protecting humanity ever since the establishment of the UN Guardian troops, and they now live quiet lives of peace. Port will be animating the film while Ishimori Productions and Production I.G. Signal.MD, an anime studio subsidiary of I.G. Both have previously worked in 009 Re:Cyborg. Kenji Kamiyama takes the role of chief director of the project while Koudai Kakimoto will be the film's director.
